• A French actor, born in Prétot-Vicquemare on July 27, 1917 as Andre Robert Raimbourg. He married Jeanne Lefrique (1943-1970), with whom he had two children, and remained with her...Read more until he died on September 23, 1970 in Paris. Bourvil finished school at the age of 15 and worked as a baker and learned to play the mandolin, cornet and harmonica. At the beginning of the forties, while he was in the army, he presented musical performances and humorous shows for the troops, composing his own songs. The character of the naive farmer which he created, in addition to his work on the radio, helped pave the way for him to appear on the silver screen. He made several films with the French comedian Louis de Funès, and also worked with major French stars. Among his most famous films are The Longest Day (1962), and Le Cercle Rouge (1970).
