He was discovered by one of the directors while delivering Hamlet's monologue to a tourist at a coffee shop. He began his artistic career in Mexico, the United States of America and Europe, and made many films in the so-called golden age of Mexican cinema. His most important films include: La Peria (1947), 3 Godfathers (1948), and From Russia with Love (1963). He died on June 18, 1963 in Los Angeles, when he was shot in the head after learning that he had cancer.
