An American silent actor and director, who created the character of the quiet man who faces dangers. He was born on October 4, 1895, in Piqua, Kansas, United States. His parents were vaudeville actors and were known for their acrobatic and pantomime works. He is known for many movies, such as The General (1926). He died on February 1, 1966, at the age of seventy in Woodlands Hill, California, shortly after playing cards with his wife.
