A French actor who was born in the French capital, Paris, on October 23, 1930. He is one of the pioneers of the French New Wave and received a Golden Leopard Award in 1971 for his movie The Friends (1971). After his retirement, he returned in the 1970s to work as a writer and director for some of the low-budget social films that rarely succeed commercially. Among his most important works: Les Mistons (1957), Hatari (1962), and The Anerican Friend (1977).
