His wife died in 1988 and she did not have any children. His first hobby is writing songs, and his second hobby is journalism. His hobby of writing began in middle school when the teacher asked him to write about an Indian movie. His distinguished style caught the attention of his teacher and he read his topic to the class, which encouraged him later to continue writing and reading. As for the hobby of journalism, it appeared in high school with his colleague and cousin Radwan Maqamis (journalist and radio broadcaster). He gradually wrote the lyrics of songs until 1974. At that time, he joined the press through the “Mirror of the Nation” magazine. He composed the score of the series "The Victim and his Lover". He suffered from heart disease until his death on February 2, 1998.
