American actress, born April 15, 1908 in Hollywood, California, USA. Her father is of Scottish descent and her mother is of Spanish origins. She began acting in The Kid (1921). She began working with Charlie Chaplin in Hollywood when she was 12, participating in little parts in some of his films. Three years later, at 15, Chaplin met her again, and a serious relationship between the pair developed only after four years during the filming of The Gold Rush (1925), They divorced on August 22, 1927, and she appeared in a few films before her death of cancer on December 29, 1995 (age 87) in Los Angeles, California, USA.
