A Hungarian-American actor who was born in Budapest, on February 2, 1883, and died on February 12, 1955 in Los Angeles, California, of a heart attack. He wrote musical and comedy sketches at the age of sixteen, and appeared on stage in Germany and Austria before starting his career working in German, Hungarian and British films, until The Nazis invaded Europe, so he left for Hollywood and began appearing in comedies and musicals, always portraying the role of a businessman, an eccentric man, or a sympathetic friend. He studied acting in Vienna at the Max Reinhardt Drama School. Among his most important movies: Ball of Fire (1941), Casablanca (1942), and In Good Old Summertime (1949).
