Kamal William Yunan El Malakh was a writer, journalist, and an archaeologist. He was born on October 25, 1918, in Assiut. He received his BA from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Architecture in 1943 from Cairo University, after which he joined the Institute of Graduate Studies of Archeology at the Faculty of Arts and obtained a master's degree from the Institute of Egyptian Studies. He is best known for the film The Conqueror of Darkness (1978), which was also adapted into a radio series. He died on October 24, 1998.
