Jean Adair is a Canadian actress, born in Hamilton, Ontario, on June 13, 1873. She worked with stock theater companies before moving to the United States of America to study drama at the University of Chicago and work in the theater in one-act plays. Among her most notable films are Arsenic and Old Lace (1944), Something in the Wind (1947), and Living in a Big Way (1947). One of her most prominent roles was the role of the spinster aunt, Martha Brewster in the movie Arsenic and Old Lace (1944). At the end of her career, she worked in television series, before her death on May 11, 1953, in New York City, New York.
