An American writer, born in Fort Worth, Texas, USA. She is best known for the novel Strangers on a Train, which was turned into a movie more than once, one of them by director Alfred Hitchcock in 1951. She also wrote a series of stories about a murderer called Tom Ripley. She died in Locarno, Switzerland.
