He was an American actor, born on October 9, 1878 in Sacramento, California, USA, as Robert Taylor Bien. He was a matinee idol during the silent film era, and he also prospered after the introduction of sound to cinema. He gave up singing for acting after being hired as an understudy in the Broadway play "Glad of It" in 1903, then in "Anna Karenina" (1907), and in the musical operetta "The Kiss Waltz" (1911). He also played romantic roles in cinematic films. He formed his own production company, Robert Warwick Film Corp, which produced four films. Warwick temporarily left Hollywood in 1917 to serve as an infantry captain in WWI, and when he returned, he continued acting on Broadway and in the movies. He is known for In a Lonely Place (1950), Sullivan's Travels (1941), and The Adventures of Rin Tin Tin (1957-1959). He was married to Arline Peck, with whom he had Rosalind, Josephine Whittell, and Stella Larrimore, with whom he had a daughter named Betsey. He passed away on June 6, 1964 in West Los Angeles, California, USA.
