A British actor, born in Guernsey, UK. Before his work in the film industry, he served in the British Royal Air Force and was imprisoned in a German camp. In 2004, he entered the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest number of characters voiced by one actor in an audio book, through the book A Song of Ice and Fire. He became famous through his role in Game of Thrones (2012). He also participated in the Oscar-winning film Amadeus (1984). Among his achievements are the Tony Award for Best Actor and the British Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance in the series Misleading Cases (1967-1971). Queen Elizabeth II honored him in 2008.
