Bligh was known around the world for the ruthlessness and stern discipline he displayed when he commanded the famous HMAV Bounty on its expedition to the South Sea Islands...Read more (1787-1789), and despite the civil disobedience that took place on board, he was able to lead the defenseless boat over 5,750 kilometers across the Pacific Ocean to the island of Timor, without any human loss. Also, he became governor of New South Wales, in Australia, and three years later, he was deposed, but he was returned to his position thanks to some official employees who were sent from England. In 1814, he was promoted to Vice-admiral of the Blue. He is known for the TV series Biography (1996). He died in London, on December 7, 1817.
