Irish singer and actress, born in Dublin, Ireland on December 8, 1966, as Sinead Marie-Bernadette O'Connor. She received the WSA Award in 2012. She got married 4 times, including John Reynolds (1987-1991), with whom she had a child, Nicholas Sommerlad (2001-2004), Steve Cooney...Read more (2010-2011), and Barry Herridge in 2011. She was chosen as one of the 50 Most Beautiful People in the World. She caused a huge international uproar when she tore down the portrait of Pope John Paul II. When she won a Grammy Award in 1990 for Best Music, she refused to accept the award to be the first artist to decline that award. She was ranked #35 of the 100 Greatest Women in Rock and Roll. She announced her retirement from music in 2003 to devote herself to taking care of her children but returned again in 2005. She was imprisoned as a teenager, in a shelter, for shoplifting. She has one legitimate son and three illegitimate children. She is known for In the Name of the Father (1993), Vanilla Sky (2001), and Sinéad O'Connor: Nothing Compares 2 U (1990).
