When she became a teenager, she returned to the United Kingdom and attended a Catholic boarding school, then she studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. In 1997, she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and chronicled her experiences with depression in a 1998 book called "The Diamonds Behind My Eyes. She passed away on 3 March 2021, in London, England, UK.
