He is known for Dracula's Daughter (1936), Saboteur (1942), Murder, My, Sweet (1944), and High Noon (1952). He studied music in a young age and became a musician. When he joined Columbia University, he started acting on Broadway in 1915. He took part in the silent film The Runaway Wife (1915), and he always played the roles of a morally corrupt villains and corrupt businessmen. His only daughter, Ottilie Kruger, was a theater actress who died in 2005.
