An American actress, born on October 30, 1911, in Providence, Rhode Island, USA, as Ruth Carol Hussey. Ruth Hussey received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960. Hussey married Charles Robert Longenecker (1942-2002), with whom she had three children. She is known for The Uninvited (1944), The Women (1939), Our Wife (1941), and The Philadelphia Story (1940), for which she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role in 1941. She studied law and graduated from Pembroke College in Brown University in 1933, then studied acting at the School of Drama at the University of Michigan. After she worked in the local radio, she traveled to New York City, where she worked as a model, and then received some theatrical roles before working with MGM Studios. Her film debut was in 1937. Ruth Hussey died on April 19, 2005, in Newbury Park, California, USA, due to complications from an appendectomy.
