An American actress and singer, born on September 29, 1910, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA, as Helen Virginia Briggs. She married John Gilbert (1932-1934), J. Walter Ruben (1937-1942) and Ali Ipar (1946-1951), and she had two children. She is known for The Invisible Woman (1940),...Read more The Garden Murder Case (1936), and There's That Woman Again (1938). She was one of the golden stars of Hollywood from the thirties until the mid-forties. She contracted with MGM and then Paramount Pictures. She sang and danced in many plays and musicals and went to work on television in the early fifties. She was also an active member of the democratic committees in Hollywood. She died of cancer on February 24, 1982, in Los Angeles, California, USA.
