The people who frequented his father’s restaurant, including journalists, intellectuals, and academics, motivated Zaydan's passion for science and knowledge, especially literature. He studied medicine for one year and then immigrated to Cairo. After arriving in Cairo, he changed his mind about studying medicine. He began working as an editor in the daily newspaper Al-Zaman, after which he was appointed a translator in the British Intelligence office in Cairo. He died on the evening of Tuesday, July 21, 1914.
