A writer from New Zealand, who specialized in writing books for children and young adults. She was born in 1936, and has over 100 picture books, 40 novels and 20 short story collections. She won the Hans Christian Andersen International Medal. Her book The Changeover was adapted into a movie. She died in 2012 of Age 76 years old.
