He is a South African director and producer, born on June 29, 1984, in Johannesburg, South Africa. He is known for In Search of Fellini (2017), Son to Son (2017), and Struck (2008). He was married to the actress Marisol Nichols. He was one of the first filmmakers on the scene following the 2004 Asian tsunami, filming the worst-affected regions of Banda Aceh, Indonesia.
