British actress born on 19 June 1865 in Liverpool, United Kingdom. She was nominated for several awards, including two Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actress for Mrs. Miniver (1942), and Night Must Fall (1937). She made her onscreen debut in the silent film Enoch Arden (1914). Her notable works include The Lady Vanishes (1938), Gaslight (1944), and Suspicion (1941). She was married to actor Ben Webster and had one daughter. She died of cancer on 29 May 1948 in Los Angeles, California.
