British actor born in Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom on 15 April 1903. He received several awards and accolades throughout his career, including a Tony in 1953. He is famous for playing Detective Hubbard on Dial M for Murder (1954), the same role he played on Broadway in 1953 and played again on TV in 1958. Other notable works of his include Sabrina (1954), To Catch a Thief (1955), and Witness for the Prosecution (1957). He was married once and she remained with him until his passing. He died on 5 May 1983 in San Diego, California.
