Thereafter, he turned to film, making his debut in The Three Musketeers (1935). His film career continued, in addition to working in the Pasadena Playhouse as a director and actor. He died of a heart attack at the age of 65. Among his most notable work: Mildred Pierce (1945), Notorious (1946), At Sword's Point (1952), and Lone Star (1952).
