A Swiss actress who was born in Basel, Switzerland on July 18, 1926 and died in Lausanne, Switzerland on December 11, 2006. She married cinematographer Kurt Grigoleit (1962-1988) and remained with him until his death. She is known for The Angry Hills (1959), Doctor Crippen Lives...Read more (1958), and The Power and the Prize (1956). She was a famous star in the 1950s and often starred in dramatic roles. She got trained at the Swiss Theater Institute in Zurich, where she began her career on the German stage in Göttingen. Because of her role in Afraid to Love (1954), she went to Hollywood to replace actress Maria Chebel in the movie The Power and the Prize (1956), but her role in the movie did not lead to her Hollywood stardom. She worked in several secondary roles and returned to Europe to devote her life to stage in 1960 until her retirement from art.
