British actress born in Karachi, Pakistan on 15 September 1916. She studied acting at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts and made her stage debut at the early age of 12. She then enrolled in the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. She made her film debut on Lorna Doone (1934) and starred in The Lady Vanishes (1938) by Alfred Hitchcock. Other works of hers include Jassy (1947), Look Before You Love (1948), and Cast a Dark Shadow (1955). She was married once and had one daughter. She died on 15 July 1990 in Kensington, London.
