An American actor who was born on a farm near Davenport, Iowa and the son of General Nathaniel Greene who won victories over the British. His uncle was the silent actor Arthur Johnson. When the family moved to New York, he became a star on the wrestling team at Poly Prep Middle School in Brooklyn and then attended Columbia University. He became the two-time EIWA champion. He graduated from the university in 1916 and represented the United States in 1920 at the Olympics in Antwerp, Belgium, and he won the silver medal. He worked on Broadway, and his first movie was The Laughing Lady (1929). He used to play athletic roles. He wrote the script for Deception (1932). He is known for Horse Fethers (1932), At the Circus (1939), and the MGM series, Dr. Kielder. He died in San Diego, California of a heart attack at the age of 72.
