An American actress born in New York. She began her career at just 2 years old, appearing in advertisements. She appeared in children's plays at 4 years old and made her onscreen debut on the silent film The Sign of the Cross (1914), and appeared in 38 silent films and 3 shorts...Read more until 1924. She made her Broadway debut in 1917. When talking films emerged she signed with MGM and appeared in over 40 feature films and 4 short films throughout the 1930s. Her notable works include Dinner at Eight (1933), David Copperfield (1935), and Sinners in Paradise (1938). She married playwright Sidney Kingsley and remained with him until she died of cancer on April 26, 1981.
