American actor, born in Jackson, Mississippi, USA on December 28, 1894, as John Preston Cheatham. He was married to Ewell Malone, and she remained with him until his death. He was active in the 1930s and 1940s. He appeared twice on Broadway, often playing the roles of policeman, janitor, detective, and taxi or truck driver. His works include The Desirable Lady (1944), Skybound (1935), and Men of San Quentin (1942). He died in La Mirada, California, USA on March 30, 1971, of heart failure.
