British/ Scottish actor born in Glasgow, Scotland, UK on September 27, 1918. He got married to the actress Nora Marlowe (1943-1977), they had two children and she was with him until her death. He made his debut on on Broadway in New York, when he was nine years old, and then worked in radio podcasts during the thirties. Later, he became a prolific supporting actor, under contract with Warner Brothers, Universal and RKO, and was a guest on many successful television series, from the mid-1950s to the mid-1970s, occasionally appearing in feature films, and also served in the military during World War II. He made his film debut in Boy Slaves (1939), and his last work was The Rear Guard (1976), then he retired. Among his most important works: Vera Cruz (1954), Illegal (1955), Coogan's Bluff (1968), and Kiss Me Deadly (1955). He died in Los Angeles, California, on July 11, 1991 of a heart attack.
