Alison Skipworth is an English theater and film actress who received a special education by academics from Oxford University, and began acting at the age of 31. Her first appearance was at the Daly Theater in London in 1894, but soon left England for Broadway. She broke into the world of cinema in 1912 with a number of short films, then presented some silent feature films until 1925, after which she devoted herself to the theater. She ended her career in 1938 with Ladies in Distress (1938).
