A British actor, born in London, England, on June 3, 1918, and died in Richmond, England, on May 23, 1996. His notable work includes: No Wreath for the General (1960), The Escape of R.D. 7 (1961), and Help! (1965). He is best known for his appearance on British television in the...Read more comedy series Father, Dear Father (1968). He joined the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst, and became an officer in the Indian Army during the WWII. After the end of the war, he returned to Britain and focused on theatrical work. He made his West End debut in 1953, and co-wrote the play Ring for Catty, on which the second film of the Carry On film franchise, Carry On Nurse (1959), was based. During the 1960s, Patrick focused on television work, including Ooh, La La (1970) and The Many Wives of Patrick (1976). He also released some songs in the sixties and seventies. Cargill died in 1996 at the age of 77, of a brain tumor.
