He showed interest in acting since his school days, and he appeared in many plays at the Pasadena Playhouse and presented many small parts in films and television series until he got his first major role in the movie Robot Monster (1953) and then singed a contract with Universal Pictures, but the studio already had big stars which prevented his appearance in good films. When his career began to decline, he turned to television work, then traveled to Europe and worked in German cinema. In 1974, he retired from acting after sustaining an eye injury and developing glaucoma. He won a Golden Globe Award for Most Promising Newcomer in 1955. He's known for The Female Animal (1958), Zig Zag (1963) and Death and Diamonds (1968). He died on February 4, 2002 in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, of cardiopulmonary failure, pneumonia, and multiple cerebral infarctions.
