An American actor, he was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on June 5, 1878. Franklin was married three times and had two children. He began his career on the vaudeville stage at the age of 12, then worked in silent films since 1916. After the advent of sound, he appeared in many uncredited roles in films, then he focused on television during the 50s till early 60s. He's known for Sunset Blvd. (1950), Bringing Home Father (1917) and The Man Took a Chance (1917). He died in 1961 of lung cancer, at age 83.
