American actor born on 6 January 1895 in Bayard, Iowa, US. He attended Creighton University and made his acting debut in 1915 on vaudeville theater. He made his Broadway debut in 1924 and his onscreen debut in 1938. His works include Toby Tyler or 10 Weeks with a Circus (1960), Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956), Baby Face Nelson (1957), and Destry Rides Again (1939). He married twice and had no children. He died on 14 April 1980 in Vero Beach, Florida, US.
