He was an American actor and sculptor, whose career spanned seven decades. He was one of the pioneers of...Read more silent cinema, and made the first feature film for Fox company, which was Life's Shop Window in 1914 and starred in it for $4,500. He signed a contract in the mid-thirties with Warner Brothers, to play additional roles until his retirement in 1964 after his works exceeded 500 jobs. Among his most important works: The Prisoner of Zenda (1922), When a Man Loves (1927), The Man who Laughs (1928), and The Rip-Tide (1923). He died in Hollywood, on December 29, 1971, of a stomach disease.
