German actor who was born on March 24, 1904 in Barkocin, Poland, as Nicolaie Yoshkin. He married actress Eleonora von Mendelssohn (1947-1951), who remained with him until she committed suicide. Among his important works: Agent for H.A.R.M. (1966), Foreign Correspondent (1940), and House of Horrors (1946). He fled when the Nazis came to power. His hatred of Hitler and the Nazis fueled his Hollywood career as he played the role of Nazi villains in cinema in addition to the roles of many German army officers. He died on January 15, 1994 (age 89) in Santa Monica, California, USA.
