He was a British actor, born in Ipoh, Malaysia, as Dudley Frederick Peter Butler-Madden. He worked several jobs before becoming a newsreader for the BBC and later an actor. He was a well-known character in the British movies and TV shows of the 1950s and 1960s. His first appearance was in The Conquest of the Air (1931). He is known for The Avengers (1961-1969), The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes (1970), and From Russia with Love (1963). His last role was in The Message (1976). He was married to Mary Jordan. He died at the age of 71 on February 24, 1976, in England, UK.
