A Spanish-American stage and film actor, born in Barcelona, ​​Catalonia, Spain on October 4, 1886. He was married twice and had three children. He spoke fluently in 7 languages and was also an expert chef, an artist, and a pianist. He studied at the University of Madrid and majored in law. He left home and joined a traveling circus in the South of France. Then he discovered his desire for acting and got involved in theatrical drama. In 1914, he immigrated to the USA and worked on Broadway and presented 12 plays (1915-1928) in addition to his work in silent films. Among his notable works are Svengali (1931), Easy Living (1937), and The Count of Monte Cristo (1934). He died of a heart attack in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, USA on December 23, 1962.
