An American actor, jazz pianist, singer, and songwriter, born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, USA, on October 18, 1918, as Robert William Troup Jr. He married twice and had five children. Bobby Troup attended the Hill School, then the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, graduating with a degree in Economics. He formed a band, in which he played and wrote songs. However, his musical career was interrupted by his enlistment in the United States Marine Corps in 1942. He founded the first African-American band of United States Marines. Moreover, he composed the song "Snootie Little Cutie," which was first recorded by Frank Sinatra and Connie Haines, and after his discharge from the army, he resumed his musical activity as a songwriter, musician, and singer, and his greatest success was as a songwriter. He also began appearing in films, making his debut in Duchess of Idaho (1950), after which he had roles in musical films. Troup had a more substantial career in TV productions, participating in the series Emergency! (1972-1978). Over the course of six years, he appeared in 126 episodes of the series. His last appearance was in the television series Simon & Simon (1985) when he was 67 years old, after which he retired. He died in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles, California, USA, on February 7, 1999, of a heart attack.
