She was offered a screen test while she was in high school, but she preferred to finish high school and attend Stephens College in Missouri, after which she went to Hollywood and got a role in the movie Kiss and Tell (1945), signed a contract with Paramount, made several films in the remainder of the 1940s, left Paramount in 1949 and worked as a freelancer for several years, before retiring from cinema in 1951, but she presented her final movie Francis in the Haunted House in 1956, as well as a few television appearances.
