After two years of practicing law, he took acting as a profession and worked in theater in New York, and in 1911, he began his career in silent films as an actor and director. His film debut was in Nell's Last Deal (1911). He continued his film career after sound was introduced into films. His first talkie was Good News (1930), in addition to his theatrical work on Broadway. Frank McGlynn, Sr. passed away at the age of 84.
