An American actor, he was born in New York, on October 31, 1936.He is an American actor, director, writer and producer who worked in film and television, and his career spanned 35 years. He won the Bambi Award and the Bravo Otto Award in 1969, the Golden Boot Award in 1984, the Western Heritage Award in 1975 and 70 and the Western Western Book Award in 1981. He was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1984 for his distinguished television career. He got married three times and had 8 children. Among his most important works are: Little House on the Prairie (1974-1983), Little House: The Last Farewell (1984), Bonanza (1959-1973) and Highway to Heaven (1884-1989). He was severely ill with cancer and died at the age of 55.
