A South African actor born in Johannesburg, South Africa on May 20, 1918. He got married three times and had two children. He got educated at Harrow and trained in acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art RADA and has been on stage since 1936. He had a long career in music halls and at the West End theater in London, especially in satirical plays. His cinematic journey began with the movie The Goose Steps Out 1942. In the mid-fifties, he began his television journey, and ended his artistic career with the movie Elizabeth 1998. Among his most important works: Dentist in the Chair (1960), Dentist on the Job (1961), Elizabeth (1998), and The Unholy Four (1954). He died in 2002 at the age of 83.
