He graduated from Indiana University School of Law, preferred acting to law, and performed hundreds of programs. He appeared frequently in the roles of villains in many TV series and movies from the thirties to the eighties. He appeared in more than 350 films and TV works in addition to hundreds of radio programs. He appeared on Broadway in three plays (1935-1938) and presented the roles of policemen, petty crooks, judges, jurors, waiters, neighbors, shopkeepers, show-goers, party guests, reporters, and nightclub manager. His first work was as a radio operator in the movie Happy Landing (1934), and his last work was in the movie Amazon Women on the Moon (1987). He died of cancer in 1986 at the age of 76.
