• Johannes Mario Simmel was an Austrian writer and actor, born on April 7, 1924, in Vienna, Austria. He was trained as a chemical engineer and worked in research from 1943 to the end...Read more of WWII. Later on, he worked as a translator for the American military government and published reviews and stories. Many of his novels were successfully filmed in the 1960s and 1970s. Among his notable works are Stefanie (1958), Hotel Adlon (1955), and Verträumte Tage (1951). He died on January 1, 2009, at the age of 84, in Lucerne, Switzerland.
