British actor, born in Lancashire, England, on March 31, 1898. He got married twice and had one daughter. At first he was a medical student at Cambridge University. He then became a member of the Footlights Dramatic Society and worked on stage since 1920. He wrote a number of plays and made several county theatrical tours. In 1953, he founded his own theater company and took over management of the Aldershot Hippodrome. In 1955, he moved his company to Wimbledon, continuing as an actor and director of Wimbledon Theatre. Among his important works are: The Secret of Stamboul (1936), The Second Mrs. Tanqueray (1952), and The Silent Passenger (1935). He died in London, on September 7, 1962.
