Whitrow was nominated for a BAFTA TV Award for Best Actor for his role as Mr. Bennet in the 1995 BBC version of Pride and Prejudice. He was married to Catherine Cook, with whom he had two children. He died on September 28, 2017, in Wimbledon, London, England, United Kingdom.
