An American actress of Scottish and Irish descent, born in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, on April 2, 1923, as Gloria Eileen McEniry. She was educated at the Worcester Art Museum School, moved to Los Angeles in her late teens, worked on a number of radio programs and commercials, and sang in small theatrical groups. She then moved on to film work through Columbia and appeared as a leading star in Sport of Kings (1947), after which she continued working in B-films in mostly minor roles. She gained fame for playing Alice Mitchell on the TV series Dennis the Menace (1959-1963). However, her cinematic and television work diminished after that, and she was seen in some films and television series until her retirement in 2012. She got married twice and had three children. Among her notable works are Law of the Barbary Coast (1949), Air Hostess (1949) and Racing Luck (1948). She died in Los Angeles, California, USA, on April 3, 2021.
