An American actor, born in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, USA, as Charles Brown Middleton. He married actress Leora Spellman (1906-1945). They had one child, and she remained until her death. Among his most important works are Duck Soup (1933), Flash Gordon Conquers the Universe...Read more (1940), Strangler of the Swamp (1946), and Flash Gordon (1936). Charles Middleton was a theater and film actor. Initially, he worked in a mobile circus looking after elephants, then worked in vaudeville, and at the age of 18, formed his own theater company, then returned to vaudeville. In 1920, he turned to cinema and appeared in silent films, but he only established himself as a film actor in the sound era of sound. He worked with different comedy stars, especially the Three Stooges, Laurel and Hardy, and the Marx Brothers. He died in Los Angeles, California, USA, on April 22, 1949.
